Plants for Birds
Restoring Habitat, One Yard at a Time
ABOUT OUR GARDENS
Plants for Birds promotes the use of Florida-native plants to rebuild the foundation of healthy ecosystems.
Native plants support insects, birds, and pollinators — the entire food web begins here.
By replacing turf and non-native ornamentals with habitat-friendly plantings, we help create living landscapes that sustain wildlife and strengthen our local environment.
Why It Matters Locally
In Volusia County, habitat loss and landscape fragmentation directly impact migratory birds and resident species alike.
Native landscapes:
• Feed birds and pollinators
• Reduce fertilizer and pesticide use
• Reduce fertilizer runoff into the Indian River Lagoon
• Improve soil and water quality
• Strengthen neighborhood biodiversity
Healthy yards support healthy waterways.
